  • I was also intrigued by his teaching about how engagement in a particular practice requires a willful joining with the demonic force in order for the practice to be efficacious around 22 . Fortea renowned demonologist who does not believe, for instance, that incantations or spells are inherently efficacious but only become so in the same manner as Fr. This argues against the idea that the poses absent willful intent are powerful in themselves even though the Guru seemed to think so . Parenthetically, I do believe the Guru was right but not because the poses are inherently efficacious in bringing about false worship. Be careful not to assume that I am thus arguing that his is a good reason to stick with the poses or have any association with Yoga.

  • I've stumbled upon something called Open Focus which has accelerated my meditation and awareness practices significantly. It's based off of EEG studies on what induced alpha waves and it is a whole system of awareness practices that can be integrated into life. But I have one thought on this: despite how sacred and supposedly precise the ancient meditation methods were, they were all created in a pre-industrial culture for the pre-industrial mind. A mind which could probably reach alpha wave and other flexible and widened states of consciousness significantly easier than our modern minds can. What they were missing though, is the wider global consciousness that we have in modern times, and how the old belief systems are breaking down. Thus, these old techniques and schools of consciousness raising are extremely inefficient for how we are now. The way modernity is, we need new methods of raising consciousness that although may have influenced from the past, are generally discontinuous from them and are able to precisely work with us as we are. I don't care which of these new methods of meditation are better or the competition between products, all the matters is what works for our modern psyche's. I've spend 12 years meditating and it had an additive effect over the years but this vice grip of this tense, stressed, beta state always seemed to be there even during retreats. Bill, I would like to try it, but I've been spending money on this Open Focus program and cannot afford something $100+ at this time.

  • Hey Gianni, you are right, I haven't written about the contemplative practices in Christian and Jewish traditions.

  • I actually just tried upgrading the wireless card and was greeted to a message during boot up saying "Unauthorized Wireless network card is plugged in. " So it looks like you can't upgrade the wireless card unless you hack the wireless card to identify as a different ID or hack/get access to a hacked BIOS.

  • 6" and I find that the typing experience isn't the greatest probably because of the low key travel -- I'm not sure what the proper technical description is! The keys are a little flimsy, so sometimes it feels like you pressed the key when really you only glanced it for the record, I'm a hunt-and-peck typist . From asking around, an M Core processor should be sufficient for my needs, and I really appreciate the fanless-ness and lightness of 2-in-1s featuring them, but most laptops that light sacrifice keyboard quality, it seems. I've very much enjoyed reading and watching your reviews while trying to decide on a laptop, so thank you!

  • 6lbs isn't heavy by any means I remember when laptops used to be at least 5lbs , but it isn't the most portable thing in the world. However, $950 for a 14-inch screen machine with dedicated graphics AND a convertible too that can handle light gaming at 1080p is an absolute steal, even compared to the Zenbook UX303 models which also have a 940M. The Yoga 900 is a no buy with those absurdly large bezels and that terrible black level and contrast ratio .

  • Since City Living was released, my Sims are unable to place objects from their inventories in the world with this mod installed. I don't understand how or why it should have any affect on inventory workings but it seems to have, somehow. Also, why doesn't this mod show up on your list of mods when using the menu bars across the top of your tumblr?

  • It's certainly a contentious issue and I agree that it's wrong that due to a lack of regulation, someone with no prior knowledge can become a Yoga Teacher simply by going on a $49 'Group On' distance learning course with no practical assessment or attendance. One of my client's friends went to India for a month long Teacher Training course and became ill in the second week and missed a week and a half's training. I'm all for regulation, contrary to the IYN views as I believe that the anatomy and physiology is very important to promote muscle balance and correct postural faults. Details such as performing external hip rotation prior to internal hip rotation and knowing the appropriate counter poses should not be ignored and explained away by experienced, yet poorly knowledgeable teachers. There teaching and meditation etc may be brilliant but they should still aim to improve their knowledge, even by reading the appropriate books.
